Hurvinek was created to be Spejbl´s sole child. Hurvinek first appeared on stage together with Spejbl in an encore to the evening performance of the comedy "Honest House" by Rudolf Nesvera played in the Pilsen Puppet Theatre on May 2, 1926.
The puppets in this category represent the Czech tradition in puppet making. These are mostly small series cast puppets, which are then hand decorated by sewing and painting.
The present figures of Spejbl and Hurvinek were made in 1964 based on a design of Radko Haken, a famous member of the ensemble. His design added more poetical features to the original grotesque figures.
